Scramble up India Venster, Table Mountain's most exciting half-day route, with a registered local guide, then ride the cable car down. Private hike; hotel pick-up for up to 3 guests.
The day
- Hotel pick-upPick-up from your hotel in the City Bowl, Atlantic Seaboard or Southern Suburbs about 15 minutes before sunrise (from about 05:15 in midsummer to 07:35 in midwinter), then a short drive to the start of the route beside the lower cable station.
- Up India VensterWe start climbing at sunrise. The route passes a rock window (venster) overlooking a ravine that, seen from the city, looks a bit like a map of India. Expect scrambles, ledges and a few short chain sections up the front face, with the cable cars gliding overhead. Your guide sets the pace and the safety line.
- Top of the front faceCoffee at the upper cable station (own account), with an optional loop on the plateau if there's time.
- Cable car downRide the cable car down; your standard one-way ticket is included. If the cableway closes, we walk down by the safest route on the day and refund the cable car fare.
- Hotel drop-offBack at your hotel about 5 hours after pick-up.

How fit do I need to be?
Strenuous: Very steep and long, with scrambling or exposed sections. Fit, experienced hikers.
What if the weather is bad?
Every hike has a weather alternative. Geoff checks the forecast the day before and confirms the route, a safer option or another date.
Is there a backup plan?
If wind closes the cableway, we walk down by the safest route on the day and refund the cable car fare.

Yes, up to 8. Hotel pick-up in the Jimny covers up to 3 guests; everyone else meets us at the India Venster start, beside the Lower Cable Station on Tafelberg Road.

- Good fitness and a head for heights required: about 3 hours of steep climbing with scrambling, exposed ledges and short chain sections.

Private hikes: one group per day. Geoff is the only guide, so once a date is booked, no other tour runs that day.
Hikes may be rescheduled or cancelled in high wind, heavy rain or poor visibility.
