Cape Hikes and Tours (Geoff Tennant, Cape Town, South Africa) respects your privacy and processes personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Geoff Tennant is the responsible party.
What we collect
When you book, enquire or contact us, we may collect:
- Name, email address and phone or WhatsApp number
- Hotel or pick-up address, tour date and number of guests
- Health, fitness or dietary information you choose to share so we can run the tour safely
- Payment details, which are handled by our booking and payment providers; we do not store card numbers
- Basic website usage data, such as pages visited, through cookies or analytics
How we use it
To confirm and run your tour, arrange pick-up, contact you about your booking, handle payments and refunds, keep you safe on the day, and reply to enquiries.
We do not sell your information. We only send marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
Only what is needed to deliver your tour:
- Bókun, our booking system, and its payment provider
- Our contact form service and email provider
- Partners on the day, such as attractions or wine estates, where they need guest names or numbers
- Emergency services, if needed for your safety
- Authorities, where required by law
Some providers store data outside South Africa. We use providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
Booking records are kept for up to 5 years for tax and accounting purposes. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted within 12 months. Health information is deleted after your tour.
Security
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe, including using secure, reputable providers and limiting access to it.
Cookies
This website may use essential cookies and simple analytics to see how it is used. The booking window may set its own cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or object to its use. Contact us at geoff@capehikesandtours.co.za. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
