Booking Terms

These terms apply to every tour booked with Cape Hikes and Tours, operated by Geoff Tennant, a registered tourist guide (WC14954) in Cape Town, South Africa. By booking, you agree to them.
Bookings and payment
Geoff confirms your booking by email. Prices are per person in South African rand and include the items listed under "Included" on each tour page.
Bespoke and multi-day trips: 30% deposit to confirm, balance 14 days before the first day.
Cancellations by you
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start, with a full refund.
No refund for cancellations within 24 hours of the start or for no-shows. Late arrival may shorten the tour; the full price still applies.
Bespoke and multi-day trips: the deposit is refundable up to 14 days before; after that, no refund.
Changes and cancellations by us
Every tour has a weather alternative. Geoff checks the forecast the day before and adjusts the plan if needed.
If Geoff cancels for weather, safety or any other reason, you choose a full refund or a new date. We are not responsible for other costs, such as flights or accommodation.
Routes, stops and timings may change on the day for safety, weather, closures or traffic.
Fitness, health and safety
Each hike is graded on its tour page. Please choose a tour that suits your fitness and tell us when booking about any medical condition, injury, pregnancy or fear of heights.
Geoff may change the route, turn back, or end a hike early if he believes it is unsafe to continue. His decisions on safety are final. No refund is due if a hike is shortened for safety, or because a guest cannot continue.
Please follow the guide's instructions, wear suitable shoes and bring the items listed under "Bring". Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
All tours are subject to the Tour Indemnity, which the person booking accepts on behalf of every guest named in the booking.
Liability
Hiking and outdoor activities carry inherent risks, including uneven ground, steep or exposed sections, weather, wildlife and the actions of others. You take part voluntarily and accept these risks.
To the extent permitted by South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act, Cape Hikes and Tours and Geoff Tennant are not liable for injury, illness, loss or damage except where caused by our gross negligence. We are not liable for loss of or damage to personal belongings.
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the price you paid for the tour.
We strongly recommend travel insurance covering hiking, medical treatment, evacuation and cancellation.
Third parties
Entry fees, cable car tickets, tastings and other services included in a tour are provided by third parties under their own terms. If the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway closes, its tickets are refunded as described on the tour page.
Photos
Geoff may take photos during the tour and share them with you. We will only use photos in which you can be identified for marketing with your permission.
